Reasons you should be using an electric toothbrush

Reasons you should be using an electric toothbrush
February 18, 2021Cristian SierraUncategorized

Electric toothbrushes aren’t exactly a new thing. But there’s no question that they’re becoming more and more mainstream, effective and affordable.

So you may be wondering, are electric toothbrushes for you? Take it from your friendly Atascadero CA dentist. You’re definitely missing out if you haven’t switched to an electric brush yet.

To help you in your decision, our dental team has put together a list of some of the myriad benefits an electric toothbrush can have to your oral health.

Your teeth will be cleaner

Electric toothbrushes are much more proficient at cleaning your teeth. They are especially effective in removing plaque than a manual brush.

They’re also great for gum health. In fact, scientists found that people who use an electric toothbrush have healthier gums, less tooth decay and also keep their teeth longer. That’s compared with those who use a manual toothbrush.

The research shows electric toothbrushes, especially those with heads that rotate in both directions, are really effective at keeping tooth decay and gum disease in check.

An electric toothbrush is easier

Who doesn’t love a daily task made easier? With an electric toothbrush, you don’t have to worry as much about your technique or whether you’re brushing long enough.

An electric toothbrush provides the cleaning action for you. That could be especially helpful if you have arthritis or to make sure your kids’ brushing is on track. Also, almost all electric brushes have built-in timers to let you know when to move on from a certain quadrant of your mouth. They also turn off when you get to the recommended two-minute time limit.

A technologically advanced toothbrush

A number of high-tech features common in most electric toothbrushes include:

  • Numerous brushing modes specialized for sensitive teeth, whitening benefits or gum-massaging action.
  • Pressure sensors to signal when you’re brushing too hard.
  • Digital reminders to replace your brush head.
  • Oscillating/pulsating and cupping, oscillating/rotating or sonic technology.
  • Bluetooth connectivity to help track brushing progress and improve how you brush.
  • Multiple brush head compatibility so you can choose which kind of bristle design you prefer.
